I've purchase ceramic retrofit valves from four different suppliers. Product offered by FaucetPartsPlus appears to be genuine Price Pfister part. The ribs on the black cover facilitate tightening it when it is deep inside ceramic tiled wall.
A non-compressible, perhaps fiber washer, shim may be needed if valve is used with a seat that is higher than the standard Price Pfister seat. If the seat is too high, they'll be pressure on the ceramic plates, and the valve with not turn easily.
A plumbing paste "dope" should be used on the mounting threads to prevent leaking. The threads of the ceramic valve are not tapered like pipe threads, so a heavy dose of pipe dope is needed to make a good seal; teflon tape by itselt is not sufficient.
Once installed correctly, these valves seem to be leak free.
